For Future Generations was founded by Sophie Garrick in 2024 during her junior year of high school. A lifelong lover of history and searching through old family photo albums, Garrick had always wished she had more materials from and about her ancestors. After hoping to write a history research paper inspired by her grandfather’s story but abandoning the idea due to limited access to his and his peers' materials and historical records, Garrick created For Future Generations to bridge that gap. 

 

Through For Future Generations, Garrick interviews and photographs friends, acquaintances, and strangers, then gives the materials back to the subjects so that their family has their story for generations to come. Sophie hopes that years from now, future researchers and descendants will be able to use the archives preserved and created by For Future Generations as valuable sources for academic and personal exploration alike.
